Why was my stop-loss placed closer than I set it?

On isolated margin, Binance would have closed that position by liquidation before your stop could fire, so the bot placed the stop where it can still act; lower leverage or a tighter stop keeps your own level.

The message you got: "Your stop-loss on SYMBOL was placed at … instead of …: at Nx on isolated margin Binance would liquidate this coin before your stop, so it could never fire."

What it means. The usual rule of thumb is that a position is liquidated after a move of about 100 ÷ leverage percent. Binance actually liquidates when the margin left falls to the coin's maintenance margin, and that is higher on many smaller coins, so their real liquidation price is closer to your entry. A stop beyond it never acts: the position is liquidated first. On isolated margin the bot therefore checks each coin's real liquidation price when it places your stop and, if your stop sits beyond it, places the stop inside it, with a little room for slippage and fees. It tells you once for each coin until the bot restarts. Your setting is not changed, and cross-margin stops are placed as you set them.
